pumpkins

We visited the pumpkin patch, I thought they were too old but they asked to go. I was so happy. I love all things Fall and the pumpkin Patch is such a fun place because I get to pretend it is Fall and that the leavs are changing etc etc.

Why yes her eyes are closed...it's sunny here!
Just pretend those peoples aren't there and neither is the divine chain link fence. Hey we take what we can get!
Pumpkins don't grow here so just like Christmas trees they are delivered in a big ole truck and we pretend!
So many colours
I just lurve em, warts and all
goofy kid
growing at the rate of knots.
Fall is here-ish. the weather has been gorgeous. The dog's teeth were chattering!!! ( my dog needs clothes....how can I have a dog that needs clothes, the Daddio will not let me live this down.

carving pumpkins

Tonight we carved the pumpkins that we bought at the pumpkin Patch on Saturday. We drew on them, and cut their tops off and put our hands in that disgusting slime and grabbed handfuls of said slime and tossed it into a bowl. We picked out seeds. we gagged and wretched at the smell, we squirmed at the grossness of it all.

Who the hell am I kidding, I didn't touch them. I was photo taker. I detest the smelly, soggy slimy things and what's the point in having family staying if they aren't willing to roll up their sleeves.

Blech.

Rosie wasn't at all fond of the experience either and had no problem voicing her opinion. Lily, on the other hand, set to and was filled with concentration and gusto.
Nasty things these pumpkins
Concentration
Help from crazy Auntie Sally
Rosies first ever Jack O Lantern
That pumpkin is nearly as big as her
Yuck. Nothing else to add to that
Gross
CAS finds it very hard to to keep a straight face
Carving bats

My sister is so brave. I wouldn't put my hand that close to Rosie a knife
Lily's funny pumpkin
Lily's scary pumpkin
creepy
They look good but eeew.
The girls were thrilled to have MUA and CAS here to do this with them. Little do they know they are nowhere near as happy as me about it.

pumpkins

I took the girls to the pumpkin patch. I wondered if Lily would want to go this year what with being 12 and all but she did. We only have one patch around here and it isn't ever so spectacular because, obviously the pumpkins are shipped in but it signifies that Autumn is here and it is fun to see so we go every single year. It would be extra fun if the temps were not in the 90's still and it actually felt like autumn but whatever, beggars can't be choosers. If the calender says it's Fall, then it must be true.

Happy girls.
I love Pumpkin Patch photos, I have no idea why I just do. I might take rather a lot.
Aha, proof that I take too many. Someone is done.
and once things headed sound it was impossible to head it all back in the right direction.

I took a few photos sans kiddies

That lady is Rosies teachers mum. Small world.
So pretty
bad case of warts.
So then it was back to focusing on the kiddies.
things got better for a second
but not for long. Funny funny girls.
And then this conversation took place:
C'mon Rosie lets go and choose a pumpkin to take home.
Umm, did you guys bring money cos I forgot.
Mum, who forgets to bring money to the pumpkin patch?
That would be me cos I think of it as a place to take pictures. Anyway if we buy it now it will be cooked by the temperatures and rotten by Halloween. Lets come back next week. It will smell really bad.
Oh okay, good idea.

Phew., luckily for me I have a logical child because who the heck forgets to take money to the Pumpkin Patch? Luckily it is only 3 minutes from the house. I don't really want a nasty slimy pumpkin I have a fake one from Michael's that is fabby.
