every damn year

Every single year since Lily started school something is inevitable and that inevitable thing is that summer is over way too fast.

I love travelling with the kids, I love seeking out the next adventure and more than anything I just love being with them. I am not the mum who says, OMG summer is going to be so long, I cannot wait for them to go back to school. I will say that it will be nice to have Lily in school again as she has homeschooled for the last 2 and I have never been alone as she was always there. I truly loved it but sometimes if it was a long day and I just needed a quiet place to hide, I couldn't cos the kiddo was there and she needed someone to talk to.

Tonight the lunches are made, the book bags filled and the uniform and clothes set out. We have been sticking to a school schedule for the last week so that tonight doesn't come as a shock, or worse, tomorrow morning doesn't kill them.

I loved this summer, every single day.

I don't want it to end but growth is part of life and they need to grow. This time tomorrow I will be regaled by the first day stories and school will once again be the norm.

I don't like it one bit

School starts on Monday. I hate to see my girls head back to school because I adore them and love spending time with them. By this time of the year so many parents are so glad that their they are heading back to school but I am not one of them. This is what I love doing and what I always wanted to do. The problem with summer vacation is that it ends.

As always I am trying to eek out all that is good in these last few days. Yesterday I planned a water park play date for Rosie with her friends, Luka, Rocco and Maks. No girls in this girlies life, she'll take the boys any day of the week.Once I realised that Lily might be a little bored I told her to invite someone too so that she would have a friend to hang out with. Lily ad Sidney were pretty independent all day which was a perfect combination.

Since my access to the waterproof camera is no more I didn't take any photos as I thought it was to much of a challenge trying to keep my phone dry. I made the decision to live in the moment and not record but thankfully, Nicole did have a waterproof camera with and shared the shots.
Only one of us could take the littles on the big slides as Maks didn't reach the height requirement. This wasn't my turn.   Waiting in the line 4 stories up.
Luka and Rosie, these two just get along so well and I couldn't be happier about it. Mak's photo bombing
Coming down the big yellow slide.
Yes, that is me. It was my turn to take them and the moment was capture for ever.
Riding the lazy river holding onto Rocco and Rosie. There was nothing lazy about that river it was more like I-95 during rush hour.
We were so lucky with the weather. The afternoon storms arrived later than usual so we had a full day there. Lily and Sidney decided they DID NOT want to go to swimming so I cleared it with the necessary parties and we came back here and they painted their nails and did girl things while Rosie helped me with dinner. All in all it was a lovely day and now we need to venture out again to find something to do as the hours wind down. sob sob.

We have been doing lots of crafts and DIY around the house that I still need to share. Some days it is just too hot to be outside so we stay inside and re-invent it. Great fun
